The White Pumpkin Project
In June 2024, at 35.6 weeks pregnant, my husband and I met our daughter as she entered this world… asleep. This tragedy is referred to as a stillbirth. Sidney Hu. A beautiful, perfect little baby who has her daddy’s dark hair and her mommy’s complexion. Absolute perfection. ❤ From the very moment we learned our daughter’s heart was no longer beating, our entire world changed. If you have suffered a pregnancy loss, I am so sorry you know this pain.
The White Pumpkin Project is a New Jersey certified non-profit corporation dedicated to raising awareness about pregnancy loss and stillbirth. We aim to advocate for families who have experienced such losses, offering support and resources to help them navigate their grief. The organization hosts events to promote understanding and provide a sense of community for those affected. Through advocacy, education and support services, The White Pumpkin Project aims to create a compassionate space for healing and bring greater public attention to the realities of pregnancy loss. In the pregnancy loss community, the white pumpkin is a symbol of support and remembrance for angel babies, mainly during the Fall season. The White Pumpkin Project will be a year-round, nonprofit in order to make sure all angel babies and their loved ones are remembered and supported.
We want The White Pumpkin Project to be a place where people can give back to the hospitals, organizations and people who have helped them during their time of loss. I want to give families, moms and dads specifically, a way to honor their angels. Stillbirths, and pregnancy loss in general, seems to be a taboo subject to talk about. Our loses are NOT taboo, they are our children. There should never be any shame in wanting to talk about our babies or rush in the grieving process, as society as often states there is a timeline in sadness. The White Pumpkin Project aims to bring the topic of pregnancy loss to the forefront, so those who suffer this indescribable loss no longer feel so isolated.
